Duties:

FULL HEALTH BENEFITS and other excellent benefits offered. To operate weigh scales at Facilities of the Delaware Solid Waste Authority in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures established by the DSWA.

This open position is the entry level for the Weighmaster position responsible for insuring compliance with standards established for operating the weigh scales at the Southern Solid Waste Management Center. Work is performed under the direction of the Facility Operations Supervisor. This is a Part-Time position working a rotating schedule to include some Saturdays.

  • Question facility users and visually inspect vehicles and the solid waste they contain to insure compliance with existing Authority regulations governing the collection, transportation, and disposal of solid wastes
  • Operate computer and truck scales located at facilities
  • Determine waste, product, or construction material classification and destination (as applicable), and compute charges for each vehicle weighed
  • Direct users to disposal sites for solid waste and control traffic flow into and out of the facility
  • Provide information and assistance regarding rules, regulations and operating procedures to licensed public collectors, contractors and private citizens using the facility
  • Open and close scalehouses to insure the security of scalehouse equipment;
  • Maintain records and logs of facility and weighing activity as required
  • Answer phones in a courteous manner;
  • Be able to work at other scalehouse locations
  • Maintain reliable attendance record
  • Classify as “essential personnel”
  • Maintain equipment related to scalehouse operations as instructed
  • Ensure cash receipts are reconciled daily and transferred to appropriate personnel;
  • Identify and communicate possible coding errors seen on daily printout
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work environment
  • Deliver paperwork, supplies, and other materials between DSWA
  • sites as directed;

Qualifications:

Possession of high school diploma and ability to work with weigh scales and computers. Qualified to meet the necessary requirements to be bonded by the Authority. Training, knowledge and experience of applicable computer software preferred. Eligibility for a valid Weighmaster License as issued by the Department of Agriculture, State of Delaware, at the time of application and possession of such license at the time of appointment. Quality customer service skills required.
