The Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the site of the Old Curtis Paper Mill located on Paper Mill Road in Newark. Household Hazardous Waste can include items such as household cleaners, garden pesticides, oil-based paints only (no latex paint will be accepted), nail polish, fluorescent bulbs, or antifreeze. Only Delaware residents can bring these hazardous items for free during the hours of 8am-4pm on Saturday, September 4, 2010. This event is restricted to residents only, no commercial services. The event will be held rain or shine.
During this event, DSWA will also be collecting used electronic goods for recycling. Items such as old computers, printers, CD players, microwaves, telephones, televisions, game boys, and many other electronic goods will also be accepted at this event.
DSWA is no longer permitted to accept medication during its Household Hazardous Waste events. Residents wishing to dispose of medication should contact the State of Delaware Board of Pharmacy at 302-744-4500.
