Trash Can Dan and the Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) would like to invite Delaware students grades K-12 to participate in a poster contest. DSWA is asking students to show how they Celebrate Recycling. Students should draw a picture to show how they can help keep Delaware beautiful by recycling. One winner from each grade, K-12 will be featured on the wall of DSWA’s Environmental Education Building. They will receive their drawing in a recycled frame and additional copies to be displayed around their school. Winners will be announced on America Recycles Day, November 15, 2013.
All posters must be drawn on standard 8.5” x 11” white paper (no lined or colored paper will be accepted). Drawings should support the contest theme and should include a title and brief summary of the picture. Pencils, crayons, pens, markers, paints, or chalk may be used (chalk entries should be sprayed to prevent smearing). No three-dimensional entries will be accepted. Nothing may be glued, taped, stapled, or attached to the poster. Entries cannot be laminated and photographs will not be accepted. Each student may submit only one entry and each entry must be the original work of only one student. All entries must clearly state on the back of the poster: student’s name, address, phone number, grade level, school name, title of work, and brief description of design. Entries will be judged on originality, artistic merit, and expression of theme. Entries will not be returned. All entries must be postmarked by November 1, 2013. Please mail entries to DSWA POSTER CONTEST, 1101 Lambson Lane, New Castle, DE 19720. For more information about the poster contest or to request a full description of the rules, please call DSWA’s Citizens’ Response Line at 1-800-404-7080.
