DSWA Employees Place in Mid-Atlantic Regional Road-E-O Competition

The Delaware Solid Waste Authority is very proud to announce that Carl (CJ) Schirmer, a Sr. Landfill Operations Forman and Neville (Lynn) Wright an Operations Skilled Laborer at the Jones Crossroads Landfill both placed in the annual Mid-Atlantic Regional Equipment Road-E-O. CJ placed 1st in the bulldozer competition and 1st overall. Lynn placed 3rd in the articulating truck competition. Nearly three-dozen equipment operators from landfills across the Mid-Atlantic region pitted their skills against each other June 7, in the Solid Waste Association of America’s regional Road-E-O competition at the Mid-Shore II Regional facility outside Ridgely, Maryland.

Operators from Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland competed by taking written tests and then driving five different pieces of equipment through marked obstacle courses, simulating everyday encounters. CJ will now head to Denton, Texas for the Nationals Road-E-O competition. DSWA is very proud if it’s employee and wishes him good luck in the National competition.
