Prepare for Your Visit
Before heading to the facility, a few quick tips can help your visit go smoothly:
Before You Arrive
- Secure your load — all loads must be covered or tarped
- Separate yard waste from trash
- Bring assistance if you may need help unloading
When You Arrive
- Pull into the designated drop-off area
- Staff may be available to assist and direct you
- Dispose of materials in the appropriate containers
- Follow all posted signs and staff instructions
Before You Leave
- Payment is made on-site based on the number of bags disposed
- Credit cards are the only accepted form of payment
Important to Know
- DSWA facilities accept waste generated within Delaware only — out-of-state waste is not accepted
- Collection Stations operate on a pay-as-you-throw system
How It Works
Collection Stations provide quick, convenient disposal of household trash and yard waste.
Household trash
- $1.00 per bag
Yard waste
- Bagged yard waste: $1.00 per bag
- Loose pickup truck bed: $7.50
- Loose trailer: $7.50
- Loose pickup truck and trailer: $15.00
Bagged disposal is priced by the number of bags, not by weight. Loose yard waste is priced by the type of vehicle or trailer used.

Yard Waste
Bagged or loose yard waste. Yard waste must be separated from household trash and placed in the designated area.

- Grass
- Leaves
- Brush
- Branches
- Shrubs
- Garden material
What is NOT Accepted
- Loose (unbagged) household trash
- Large bulky items
- Construction & demolition debris
- Hazardous or special waste
Helpful Tips
- Bring exact bag counts to speed up your visit
- Make sure all trash is securely bagged and loose yard waste is secured.
- Separate materials before arriving to save time
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of DSWA’s Recycling Drop-Off Centers before disposing of household waste.
Recycling at these locations is FREE for Delaware residents.
What Can I Drop Off?
All DSWA Collection Station Recycling Drop-Off Centers accept the materials listed below. The Cheswold Collection & Recycling Center accepts these items plus additional materials because it also operates as a full Recycling Center. - Single Stream Recycling
- Paper, cardboard, plastic bottles & containers, glass bottles & jars, aluminum and steel cans
(All recyclables can be placed together — no sorting required)
- Paper, cardboard, plastic bottles & containers, glass bottles & jars, aluminum and steel cans
- Used Motor Oil & Oil Filters
- Must be from household sources only
- Oil should be in a sealed container
- Filters should be drained
- Household Batteries
- Common household batteries such as AA, AAA, C, D, and button batteries
